Dr. Ajay Achyutrao Deshpande got a B.Engg. (Civil Engineering), M.Engg. (Environmental Engineering), and Doctor of Engineering (Environmental Engineering) from IIT Delhi. Served as Senior Environmental Engineer, Water And Power Consultancy Services (I) Ltd. (PSU) from 1992-1997. Served as Regional Officer and I/C Joint Director, Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (1997-2012). Served as Environmental Advisor (May 2012 onwards) with the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation, Mumbai. Worked as Adjunct Professor, Centre for Environmental Science and Engineering (since July 2012) at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay where he taught research and consulting, air quality management, noise pollution control, environmental law and policy. Awarded the first Government of Maharashtra Award for Distinguished Environmental Engineer in 2010. Appointed to the National Green Tribunal as an Expert Member on March 18, 2013 and his tenure ended on July 14, 2017.
